“Sometimes solitude is one of the most beautiful things on earth.” – Bukowski
Someone close to my heart took me to Palos Verdes a long time ago. Close to a decade if you want me to be specific. The memory stayed with me. I decided another visit was long overdue since I was going to be in the area for the day anyway. Besides, it’s always fun to create new memories right?
It was a Sunday morning and I drove early to avoid traffic and crowds. I decided to check out Point Vicente Lighthouse. The park only had a few people and the parking was free. It’s not a real hike. More like a walking path that shows you the view of the lighthouse and the ocean. It was gorgeous and exactly what I expected. There were picnic tables and benches everywhere which is good if you plan on spending a couple of hours there to relax.
After enjoying the views of Point Vicente Lighthouse. I went to Wayfarer’s Chapel. A church made out of glass nestled on a cliff with breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. The architecture is unique and spectacular and the garden is lovely and serene. You have to visit this place if ever you’re in Palos Verdes. It truly is a hidden gem.
My tips for this trip:
1. Go early to avoid traffic and crowds.
2. Parking is free in both places.
3. Bring a camera and a tripod to get those perfect shots. Please check links below.

Funny you say that. The very first time I came to California it was in this area and I was like – who are the lucky people who can afford to live here? I lived in Georgia at the time. Two years later I was one of those lucky people. Funny how life works out sometimes! I really love it here and I wouldn’t live anywhere else if I can help it. You can do it, too!
